Yesterday we went to see the Pacific Palisades for the first time since the fire, with a friend who lost her home. The devastation goes on for as far as you can see - we spent 3 hours touring in the car! It’s been almost 3 months, and many of the lots haven’t even been touched yet. They just got clean water back a week ago! While the world seems to have moved on, in some cases people are just seeing their properties for the first time. You can only enter with a pass. It’s a literal war zone, perched above the ocean, waiting to be rebuilt by its determined residents. MANY homeowners are either under-insured, have huge deductibles, or are simply out of time or money. And don’t forget, they’re all still making their mortgage payments!

I have some ideas … Yes, we’re an hour south, but Laguna Beach is very similar to the Palisades in lots of ways - including the constant threat of fires.

Happy New Year! Continuing with our WINNING STREAK of 2024 Graduates...Jasmina Whyte! Jasmina is a fellow Californian, and came into my mentorship believing that flipping can't be done in her market of Northern California. I helped her bust that myth, and during our class she bought her first property and is well underway with construction on a great house in a great neighborhood! So proud of her!

Jasmina and her husband were both in the tech industry until recently when Jasmina left her job to focus on real estate (and their adorable kids) full-time. Yes, Jasmina regularly serves as tech support for Marci's Angels! As she's from Croatia originally and her husband is from Jamaica, they're doing the super smart thing and they own and operate Airbnb's in both countries! I always advise people to only buy short term rentals in the places they want to go visit (and stay at their properties)... The Angels are already making plans for field trips to Jasmina's homes!

Jasmina is a soft-spoken intellectual powerhouse, and an incredibly fast learner of anything she comes across that she can use in her REI business. Many of our renovation projects in Laguna Beach start out as beach houses under 1,000sf. Adding an ADU (additional dwelling unit) can be the quickest and simplest way to add space, since the state of California mandates a 60-day approval for permits. Hilariously funny, kind, and brilliant, Toby came to my course to level up her existing real estate game, and boy is she doing that and more!

Toby is a proud mama and wife, with an odd love of cleaning her own flips (she thinks no one else can do it as well as she can), and also, loves goats and baby donkeys. She is my personal 2am farm post sharing buddy and clearly needs a farm, STAT! (as do I)

Toby has multiple projects going at all times, but always finds the time to show up BIG for everyone else. 2025 is going to be her best year ever and I'm SO excited for it all!

This Southern Belle hails from Louisiana originally, but lives and works in McKinney, Texas (just outside of Dallas). When she says she's "kinda classy, kinda hood" and born with her heart on her sleeve, she means it! And we love it.
Rendi is a luxury home developer, an investor, and a PML. She's committed to this business and to her son and daughter 1000% as a full-time working single mama, and we know that nothing is stopping this woman! She's also in the process of getting her real estate license in TX.
For anyone who knows Rendi, this woman is NOT PLAYING! She has been relentless in her drive for as long as I've known her, and I couldn't be more proud of her now that she's doing her FIRST LUXURY FLIP (a woman after my own heart!), on a property she's had her eye on in McKinney forever and never gave up on getting. She's getting close to being ready for her next project, so if you have one for her in the McKinney or Dallas areas, let her know!
In her early days, Rendi lived behind The Boot at Tulane, and her love for New Orleans has never waivered (that's how we started connecting years ago). She plans to own student rentals, as well as short term rentals in vacation destinations one day in the near future.
Rendi is smart as a whip, hilariously funny, and loyal to the end. We can't wait to see how far and how fast this one goes! Congrats Rendi!

My next Class of 2024 Graduate is Amanda Reyes! Amanda lives in Phoenix and is a Level 1 trauma hospital x-ray/CT tech by day, and a real estate investor by night.

She invests in Section 8 rentals in St. Louis Missouri, and is on a mission to collect at least 15 of them by the end of 2025! (I think she's at #6 or #7 as of today). Her buy box is distressed properties in that area, for any of you wholesalers out there!

Amanda is a wife and a die-hard football mama, with a little champion player of a son, and an adorable teenage daughter that she brought out to California to meet us all!

Amanda is DETERMINED and FEARLESS - this one will make it happen, I assure you! Her dream is to retire from healthcare and make REI her full-time job, ASAP. She's also close to getting her real estate license in Arizona! Super competitive - she and Bonnie Huggins won the Gold medal at our Home Depot Scavenger Hunt! No surprise there with these two ...

As promised, today I start highlighting the 2024 Graduates of my Building Wealth in Real Estate course!

Bonnie Huggins is a real estate developer and operator specializing in remodeling and restoring historic homes and barns in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia.

She has a gorgeous family farm that she's preparing for events, and she has short term rentals, medium term rentals, and long term rentals.

Her favorite pastimes include live music, road trips with her awesome husband Andy, and shopping for cool finds (antiques and otherwise) in shops in her part of the world (also, she loves Home Depot, like me). Whether it's an old house restoration, or figuring out how to get your MTR's rented, Bonnie is an expert!

Yes, Bonnie came to the course with a lot of RE experience, but left with even more tools in her toolbox to expand her business, and says it's really the additional CONFIDENCE she gained through the course that was a game-changer.

Our beautiful friend Grace Gutierrez (True Grace) passed away this week from cancer, far too young. She was such a gorgeous person, maybe even more inside (which is saying a lot, as she was stunning!). From Argentina, so of course I introduced her to my sister @im.mandysalas and my mom, and she was so loving to them both. (She was truly the best esthetician, too). The world has lost an amazing woman, who had the most fitting name to describe her. We love you Grace! We will miss you so much.

All the stars were out last night in La Jolla! Annual holiday dinner with my besties and then fun house parties … Celebrating life-long friendships with tons of Gratitude 💜💜💜

The closing table gives me butterflies every time!
